Good book, my 8 year old likes any of the books in this series, and with the public schools not teaching our children American History yet (my older child is in 6th grade and still hasn't had a class in American History), to me this is filling in a gap left by the public school system. They need to learn about all the patriots that pledged their life, liberty and sacred honor to make our country great!

My kids absolutely love the "Childhood of Famous Americans" series. The are "assigned" reading in our homeschool, but I don't really have to assign them. They pick them up all on their own!

We got this for my childs 3rd great biography report. Really good, accurate story and she loved the book.Good series

This book made a great Christmas gift for my 9 year old grandson who loves to read about American History

I bought three of these Revolutionary War books for a gift to a school library with the intent that they would be useful during their study of early patriotic Americans. I planned on these books to be read by 2nd and 3rd grade children.

I just finished reading this book... as an adult, the writing seemed very simple & even simplistic, but I still couldn't put it down. The black-and-white illustrations are just right to help you imagine the story as you read. Longfellow's poem about Paul Revere's ride is in the last chapter, along with a description of Paul's ride. Except for that poem & description, the book deals with Paul's life from 9 to around 19, when he began carrying secret messages for the Patriots.The copy I read was checked out from my library, but I will most definitely buy this book in the very near future! I can see it being pulled off our shelves again & again to be read for fun, not just as a homeschool assignment. I know that my 2nd grade daughter will enjoy reading this book for herself, and our younger boys will enjoy having it read to them.I highly recommend this book to fellow homeschoolers studying the Revolutionary War. Even teen-agers would enjoy reading this as a "break" from heavier reading assignments.

Kids read for fun and homeschool. We love all that we've read so far from this series.

As a homeschooling family, we are always looking for a book that is both educational and fun. This series has all of the aspects needed to make history fun for kids. My son ended up with most of the books. Anything having to do with our nation's gov, presidents and such was always a draw for him and these books kept him interested! He has now passed his collection down to his little sister.
