This is a new series for Lynette Eason. I have to say that I'm ready to read the second book. Isabelle St. John is a police officer from a family of public servants. Her childhood best friend Kevin is her partner. Kevin is killed during a stakeout with Izzy. She is crushed especially since she thinks she saw someone else close to her at the scene and she can't find out why. Ryan is Kevin's brother. He is determined to find Kevin's killer and decides he won't leave Izzy's side until he does. Throw in a crazy ex who just happens to be the brother of your best girlfriend, a lovey dog, a sweet old lady neighbor, a gang, a crooked politician, some bad cops and a little romance and you have a book you can't put down. The series is Blue Justice. Read this one.

If a book has Lynette Eason's name on it, I buy it. She's gotten better and better, and this story is a heart-stopper. Several times I said to myself, "Huh, didn't see that coming!" I have to wonder if she can sit still and write active scenes with bits of dark humor, such as the distinction between dangling off a parking garage vs. getting thrown off one! I'd be pacing around and eating, which is what I did while reading.This book will drive home the impact a law enforcement officer's death has on family, other cops, and community. It seems in many books I've read, the officers don't actually die--they just have close calls and undergo physical therapy, then get married. This book contains a wrenching loss of an enjoyable character. I loved the way the two law enforcement families support each other. May it be so outside the fictional world.

Audible version.Looks like I’m about the only one who didn’t care for this. Too much crime going on, not much that is Interesting. I got to chapter 15, can’t take anymore!It looks like very few listen to the audible version. It’s all I’ve used lately. Oh, how I wish authors would take a lot more care in choosing narrators. Don’t they understand this helps make or break the book? This narrator, Callie Beaulieu does not have a good voice for this, but the worst for me is she talks tooooo fast! I even tried a slower speed, but that too, sounded strange. I was going to get the others in this series, but not now.

As my first romantic suspense novel, Lynette Eason did not disappoint. The crescendo of suspenseful action was sublime; it kept me on the edge of my seat and turning pages deep into the night. I did find myself irritated with the circumstances surrounding Izzy’s partner’s death at first, but the author allowed her characters to process the situation similarly to how I felt and layers the pivotal incident wonderfully that I was pleased to be at peace with the whole situation as the story progressed. Given the demand of attention for the suspenseful plotline, the romance is fairly mild, but it completely worked for me. Izzy and Ryan’s history worked to the advantage of the condensed time frame and their romantic connection was natural and sweet. Overall, a fantastic read that I highly recommend!

Izzy and Ryan both worked for the police department in their hometown. They grew up together with both their large families being very close. Izzy’s mom is also the Chief of Police. Then Ryan’s younger brother, a rookie cop, was murdered. How does his brother’s murder tie in with others? Does the mayor’s campaign have anything to do with the corruption that the police are investigating? Can they trust God to get Izzy out of the dangerous positions she finds herself in lately? See the sparks fly around! I loved this book and look forward to reading the next book in this series!

I enjoyed reading of Izzy's and Ryan's adventure as they dug into the discovery of those responsible for evil schemes that keeps putting Izzy's life and that of those she loves in danger. Their discovery of their feelings for one another was also a joy reading about as it unfolded. Having already read the 2nd in the series, I look forward to #3!
