The cover is the best part of the book. There are a lot of typos. I don't know python, so for me I did like that it was brief and covered a lot of the basic things in a short did. It isn't useless. It's worth $1. I'd say a beginner could buy this book and read it in a couple of hours with a laptop and an installation of python. It's not a bad introduction. After this book, however, I am not a python programmer. I think I can write some simple scripts and play around, it I'm going to have to read more documentation and go through more advanced concepts before I can do anything good with the language.The book is full of typos which just screams of unprofessionalism. This book really should be free. The author is clearly trying to make a fast buck from this with minimal effort.Don't buy this but if you do take it for what it is. A first step where you will definitely need more.
Large print is used -- perhaps to extend the size to 81 pages. Numerous typos throughout the book. Pg 14 “Mot computer languages …†Pg 17 “… in more detail that the code does†Pg 18 first_number = input(‘put the first number in) – no closing quote. While the language was clear the content of this book is meh! It's certainly not comprehensive and doesn't outline the basic common tasks you would want to perform with python such as generating random numbers, dictionaries vs list, etc, and it could've provided more string manipulation methods. You are better off downloading Python Succintly by Jason Cannon ( 146 pgs i think) or Learn Python by Sololearn from Play store. My 2cc
This book was not what it advertised. As a beginner looking to adopt a programming language, this book started off well and then veered violently into a 'clusterfunk' of confusion.Luckily, I had exposure to a couple of other beginner books that exercised greater care in the explanations. It's been said many times in a lot of other reviews, when conveying the laws of a programming language, one must be wholly accurate. Accuracy would entail grammar, spelling, and syntax.I wish I'd gotten a refund.. 😵
A good little book for beginners. Good number of sample programs. Print neither too big nor too small. Has some tests with answers. May I also recommend for beginners the book Baby Python.
The book gives a good brief intro. But not the kind you'd expect. I was able to get some knowledge from this book.
Read the Python online documentation. Don't waste your time here.
This book is theoretically 81 pages long. They only got that many pages into it by using big print on small pages and infusing it with a great deal of white space. The book PYTHON FOR BEGINNERS is subtitled "The Comprehensive Guide to Python Programming." Yet at the end of the text, the author states '....I hope that I have been able to give you at least a good head start." In my opinion, he absolutely has not. Personally I think this book is scant on information, poorly (almost not) organized, not well written, and not even spell checked - with simplistic errors like missing letters in words becoming quickly apparent. In my opinion, you can find more and much better information online for free. It looks to me like someone needed a few bucks and thought it was worth spending just a few hours slapping together and printing a simplistic intro book just to see if anyone not able to see it in person might buy it online. I don't write that many reviews, and typically when I do, it is something good - or perhaps is written about something that needs a bit more description. In this case - my advice is to look elsewhere. Two stars was too generous.
